Alpha Finance Lab is a cross-chain DeFi platform that looks to bring alpha to users across a variety of different blockchains, including Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and Ethereum.
The platform aims to produce an ecosystem of DeFi products that address unmet needs in the industry while remaining simple to use and access. The first product built by Alpha Finance Lab is Alpha Lending, a decentralized lending protocol with algorithmically-adjusted interest rates.
Leveraged yield-farming platform Alpha Homora was the second product launched by the platform, whereas AlphaX — a non-orderbook perpetual swap product — is scheduled to launch in 2021.
ALPHA is the native utility token of the platform. Token holders can earn a share of network fees by staking ALPHA tokens to cover any default loans. Other use cases for the token include liquidity mining and governance voting.
Alpha Finance Lab will implement governance via a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) allowing ALPHA holders to vote on the specifics of future Alpha products, and decide how they interoperate. This governance procedure is split over two levels: product-level governance and finance-level governance, giving token holders a great deal of control over the future of Alpha.
Aragon (ANT) is a decentralized platform built on the Ethereum network that offers a modularized way to create and manage dApps, cryptoprotocols, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO). The ANT ERC-20 token will enable its holders to govern the Aragon Network.
Smart contracts often struggle to access dependable data, but application programming interfaces have been touted as a solution to this problem.
API3’s stated goal is to allow decentralized versions of APIs to be built, managed and monetized at scales. As blockchain technology plays an ever bigger role in the economy — from decentralized finance to supply chain management — the team behind this project says it has never been more important for smart contracts to provide “timely, reliable real-world data.”
The whitepaper for API3 was unveiled in September 2020 and set out the main problem that’s associated with APIs at present: connectivity. At present, there’s no way for smart contracts to establish a direct connection with APIs for the latest data — and this has led to an explosion in the popularity of oracles.
Although this has helped solve the problem to some extent, the industry has since been grappling with the “Blockchain Oracle Problem.” Oracles are a form of middleware that sit in between APIs and smart contracts — increasing costs and centralization. API3 intends to get around this problem by enabling API providers to operate their very own nodes.
API3’s token went live at the start of December following on from a token sale that generated tens of millions of dollars.
Adventure Gold (AGLD) is the native ERC-20 token of the Loot non-fungible token (NFT) project. Loot is a text-based, randomized adventure gear generated and stored on-chain, created by social media network Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann. The project intentionally has no front-end interface, images, statistics or functionality. Instead, it is based on a set of 8,000 text-based NFTs open to how the community wants to interpret it. The NFTs contain texts of gears ranging from the “Holy Greaves of Giants” to the “Grim Shout.” As of Sept. 8, 2021, the floor price of Loot on OpenSea is 8.56 ETH. Numerous derivative projects are being built around Loot and can be found here.
Adventure Gold was launched on Sept. 2, 2021, and allowed each owner of a Loot NFT to claim 10,000 tokens for free. With the price of AGLD skyrocketing in the initial days of trading, this airdrop was worth as much as $70,000 per NFT. AGLD founder Will Papper claimed he wanted to set a standard for projects building on Loot by providing a currency for the decentralized gaming universe.
